Olympic multi-medalist in artistic gymnastics Simone Biles has shown unwavering support for her teammate Jordan Chiles, who recently faced an unprecedented setback at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The controversy erupted when Chiles’ bronze medal in the floor exercise was revoked following a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
This ruling came after two Romanian gymnasts contested Chiles’ score, leading to a review and subsequent reversal of the medal award.

Chiles’ coach, Cecile Landi, had filed an appeal that initially resulted in a score adjustment, moving Chiles into third place. However, it was later determined that the appeal was submitted four seconds too late, resulting in the reversal of the decision and costing Chiles her place on the podium.
In response to this decision, Biles has been a steadfast source of support for Chiles, both publicly and privately.
In a recent interview with People, Biles revealed that she has remained in close contact with Chiles, offering her comfort and encouragement.
ADVERTISEMENT“We’ve been FaceTiming, texting, just being girls,” Biles shared. “I did talk to her on one of the days, and I was like, ‘You know what, Jordan, you have to feel all these feels. Don’t let these emotions stop you. This will be the healthiest way to get all of this out.’”
The incident has sparked broader discussions about the rules and regulations governing gymnastics competitions, especially in high-stakes settings like the Olympics.
Biles, reflecting on the ordeal, expressed her frustration with how the situation was handled.
ADVERTISEMENT“Do we think they followed the correct procedures to reach this decision? No. That’s why we’re pushing for justice for Jordan and will continue to support her and lift her up,” Biles stated.
Biles also lamented the fact that all three gymnasts couldn’t share the podium, despite their deserving performances. While the outcome was not what they had hoped for, Biles made it clear that Chiles’ achievements remain commendable.
