MANILA, Philippines — The fire that broke out in a residential area in Sta. Ana, Manila on Tuesday morning affected approximately 300 families and injured three people, the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) said.

According to BFP-NCR’s report, the fire erupted in a three-story residential building and damaged approximately 100 houses and establishments, leaving 300 families or 900 individuals affected. The estimated damages amounted to P3 million.

Meanwhile, two BFP firefighters and one civilian sustained injuries from the fire. The two firefighters were brought to Sta. Ana Hospital for treatment.

Furthermore, the fire bureau said the first alarm was up at 6:12 a.m. and escalated to a second alarm at 6:15 a.m. The third alarm was raised at 6:28 a.m., while the fire reached the fourth alarm at 6:48 a.m.

The blaze was declared under control at 8:46 a.m. and extinguished at 12:09 p.m.

The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
