The colorfulgamebet, intricate beaded costumes — and the sense of community — carried a deeper meaning for South Florida’s Caribbean diaspora this year as the Miami Carnival celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Organizers estimated that around 100,000 people were enjoying the festivities, a three-day affair spanning Columbus Day weekend. The landmark event celebrates Caribbean heritage and culture with pageantry, music, food and arts and crafts.
