Even better, DiGiovanni said NEO Beta was a better chef than Gordon Ramsey and YouTube chef Uncle Roger.

The robotics firm 1x contacted DiGiovanni to showcase the future it’s building where robots cook food at home.

It contacted the chef and his team for ideas, and he suggested a cook-off with NEO Beta as the “final boss.”

NEO Beta and DiGiovanni shot the video near the 1x headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. Also, the YouTube chef brought a custom “Chef NEO” coat for the robot.

The company said it prepared numerous steaks in case the humanoid bot messed up. Fortunately, the machine performed the task the first time, save for a few mistakes like knocking over olive oil.

NEO Beta also pulled off butter basting, which involved pouring molten butter over a steak as you fry it. As a result, the video showcased how robots could become personalized chefs.

However, a 1x representative controlled the robot via teleoperation to ensure the video’s success. 

The robot completed tasks like seasoning, flipping, and removing the steak from the pan. However, it needed help to turn on the burner. 

The company reiterated that NEO Beta could cook autonomously if it had proper input data. Still, it will not enable this feature for the first NEO users to ensure it can handle safer tasks first.

Aside from cooking, the robot can walk at speeds of up to 1.12 m/s. It can lift around 70 kg and carry up to 20 kg291bet, but it has a short operating time of two to four hours.
